I’ll admit that work has always been a way to get me into new places and allows me to meet interesting and memorable people. If I make any money from those trips, that’s just icing on the cake. The excitement that comes from those experiences and these memories reaches far beyond that paycheck. Here are my top 10 quotes on creating memories.
Fond memories
I’ve got so many fond memories. I cherish them, like to share them and after a while I don’t know anymore which part of the memory I made up and which part truly happened.
For example, I went to Vietnam with Bob in 2018. In the first few days of arrival we bought a motorbike without even having any driver’s license and went from Ho Chi Minh City all the way up to the north – to finish in Hanoi. We had the time of our lives, that’s for sure. We passed highways, mountains, went through the flood, passed broken stones and ended up in a hole. At some point even the luggage carrier broke down and our 30-kilo backpacks ended up in the middle of the highway.
Once home, of course, we enthusiastically told all our friends and family what happened to us, which always ended in the same discussion about what truly happened in detail. Bob carried the idea that I made it more dramatic and heroic.
But what the both of us did agreed upon, was that Vietnam is a magical place and that we did have the times of our lives over there. Some memories just stick with you and every once in a while you go back to that same memory again. Memories, both good and bad, need to be shared and cherished.
Bringing up your good memories is also the perfect thing to do while being in the company of some good friends – while sharing a good glass of wine.
